2011 La Jolla Research and Innovation Summit Presentations

The La Jolla Research and Innovation Summit is held each year by CONNECT, a La Jolla not for profit corporation that seeks to connect venture capitalists with research at UCSD. The speakers were John Orcutt, Matthew Arrott, Ingolf Krueger and Frank Vernon.  The object of the panel was to present the Ocean Observatories Initiative and, in particular, the cyberinfrastructure architecture while relating the work to interests including the smart grid and the management of health care.

The OOI Cyberinfrastructure is a complex and challenging undertaking.  This presentation outlines the overall context of the Cyberinfrastructure project, and highlights key elements of its technological approach. Finally we highlight the CI Vision, a collection of world-class ocean observatories united by a single Cyberinfrastructure approach.
